I don't know of any way to add it, but it's been moved to the "Organize"
drop-down menu. IMHO it's easier to right-click and delete from there.

Not for everyone. It's just another annoyance in W-7 that wasn't in W98,
W98SE, XP or Vista. Why would MS remove something everyone who uses
folders uses?

I don't delete a lot of files but I use the mouse right-handed and I could
wish the DEL key were more convenient to my left hand since I'm just not
used to hitting the DEL key with it. However, that's how I work.

It's how a lot of people work. Maybe if someone from MS reads these
newsgroups they'll suggest to the powers that be at MS to add back the
things taken away in W-7.

Karen

You cannot add it and there never was a delete button in\on Windows
Explorer
Toolbar.

If you mean there was never a delete button in Windows 7's version of
Windows Explorer, then fine, but in previous versions of Windows from
95 to XP there has always been a delete button in Windows Explorer.
Not sure about Vista as I don't have a Vista system around to look at.

Vista doesn't have the Delete button either.

As for not being able to add it, that's one of the things ClassicShell
does. Someone else already posted the link in this thread.

You will find Delete under Organize, File, and the Context menu (right
click on selection), as well as using the Delete key. If you must have it
directly located on the "tool bar" you will need a replacement for Windows
Explorer.

And where would someone get the replacement?

Is there some reason not to just tap the Delete key on your keyboard?

Click the unwanted file. Move hand from mouse to Del key. Move hand back to
mouse, chose another file. Move hand from mouse to Del key.... repeat,
repeat, repeat.....

You can, of course, make that procedure slightly more efficient by
selecting all of the files you wish to delete, then hit Delete a
single time.

Or even using your other hand... Perhaps some of the strict mousers don't
know how to select multiple files, or groups of files.

Display the menu bar. Then you can do File-Delete which is only ONE more
mouse click. Bit like right-click-delete really....

Gosh. You do make things dificult for yourself, don't you?
Ever tried Ctl-click for selecting a number of non-sequential files or
Ctl Click for selecting a group of sequential files (and you can use a
combination of both at the same time) then pressing the delete key to
delete ALL of the selected files ?

Well they should do, because Ctl Click and Shift Click can ONLY be done
with a mouse...

What I've always liked about multi-select is that you can mix and
match as many Ctrl-Click and Shift-Click operations as you need, all
within the same selection operation.

I've watched people go down a list of files and do a Click +
Shift-Click sequence to select a group of files, then do something
with them such as copy-move-delete, then go back and do the same with
another group of files, and so on, and then they'll go back and use
Ctrl-Click to select some non-contiguous files and do something with
them.

It's quicker and more efficient to use all of the Shift-Click and
Ctrl-Click operations all at once by changing the second and
subsequent Shift-Click operations into Ctrl-Shift-Click operations.
That allows a person to select a block, select some individuals,
select another block, maybe another block farther down, some more
individuals, etc.
