Default KB2990214 and KB2952664

Anyone install these?
Sounds like you may have to reinstall your OS if you install KB2990214 and
then dl and install the Win10 Technical Preview and then want to revert back
to your Win7 OS.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...%207&p=windows
Seems like the uninformed may just install that update and also the Win10TP
and not realize what they are getting themselves into. Wow.

The KB2952664 says: "This update helps Microsoft make improvements to the
current operating system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the
latest version of Windows."
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2952664

Any thoughts or advice? Will KB2952664 screw up your Win7 HP SP1 64bit OS or
help it or give private info to MS?

Thanks,
Buffalo

The 2990214 KB article is pretty clear.

If you want to go back to your previous operating system

****You'll need to reinstall your version of Windows from the recovery
or installation media that came with your PC (typically DVD media).****

If you don't have recovery media:
For Windows 7 or Windows Vista: Before you update, you might be
able to create recovery media from a recovery partition on your PC using
software provided by your PC manufacturer. Check the support section of
your PC manufacturer's website for more info.

For Windows 8.1 or Windows 8: You might be able to create a USB
recovery drive. For more info, see Create a USB recovery drive. If you
didn’t create a USB recovery drive before you installed the preview, you
can create installation media for Windows 8.1.
/qp

KB 2952664 is specifically for making Win7 and Win8.1 ready for
installing the free Win10 RTM upgrade (when it becomes available and
only for supported hardware).

yes you can, right click on the update listing and select "hide". You
won't see it again unless you choose to unhide it.

That's what I do on most of the "Optional" type updates. I'm a firm
believer of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"....

Well...maybe. g

If the KB's underlying code is updated, it may be offered again as an
available update even if the prior was hidden.
- i.e. Windows Update 'push' is smart enough to ensure that happens.
