"Safely Remove Hardware" icon is erratic
I installed XPPro+SP2 from scratch (i.e., wiped the drive and started
over) on a Toshiba notebook, then installed Norton's SystemWorks 2004 and Internet Security 2004. Now I find that the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon is often missing, even though I have selected "Always show" in the Taskbar - Notification Area properties. I don't see how I can work safely without this facility, because the machine has a bay that accepts interchangeable DVD/CD-RW, floppy, and second hd. And then there are the various USB and FireWire devices I use. MB Whether you vote Democrat or Republican in November, the country will still be run from boardrooms in the USA and elsewhere, not by your elected representatives. |

Try this. Riight click the device that you want to stop. Click properties\
click hardware\select the device from the list\select policies tab\ read both options and see if selecting one or the other solves your problem. Good luck "Minnie Bannister" wrote in message ... "Safely Remove Hardware" icon is erratic
Minnie,
I have had the same problem, tried the suggested changes and had no luck. I also have noticed that icons like my battery meter have also disappeared recently from the tak bar. I have no solution thus far.
