"Save As" Issue in XP
When I create a file from Office 2003 (ie: WORD Powerpoint etc.)and then
attempt to save the newly created file by using "Save as" my system hangs for 2 or 3 minutes before the window eventually opens which will then slowly allow me to browse to a location that I want to save the file and then ultimately it will save. This also occurs if I try and save an Office file that someone has emailed me as well. I am using Windows XP Professional on a new Dell 8400 P4 Desktop with MacAfee Security Center. Any help you could provide would be appreciated. |

"Save As" Issue in XP
Office options allow changing the folders used for data. You might have selected a network path to local folders, and it is waiting
for the IP from a DHCP. -- Mark L. "Save As" Issue in XP
Mark, Thanks for your input. I am sure you are right. I had another input
from someone who also referred to conflicts with network drives. Can you please instruct me how to do what you suggested within Office 2003? You referred to an option that I can change? A little background - I need theses ONLY when I connect to my Company's information through a VPN (IPSEC). However what I think is happening is that when I first boot up, the system is looking to connect to these drives which are inaccessible until you get into the VPN and successfully into my company's information. I guess I could permanently disconnect these drives but then anytime I need to use the VPN, I need to re-map them which I really don't want to do. It must be an XP thing because I used this same VPN when I had Windows ME and it worked fine. So please - help me out. What can I do. Maybe my issue is related to Office, but I'm not sure what I need to do based on your instructions. Please provide additional information or any other suggestions / ideas you might have. Thanks.
