"Send a Link" and "Send Page" not working
I have Windows XP and recently (no exact date or any known changes or updates
I may have made) have been unable to use the mail (send a page or link) option on the IE toolbar. Also I cannot, on either My Documents or My Pictures choose one and then right click to 'send to mail recipient' On each of these occasions, which would have opened my hotmail new message option, WHEN CLICKING ON "SEND PAGE" OR "SEND A LINK", HOTMAIL NO LONGER WORKS - "SEND PAGE" RESULTS IN THE FOLLOWING URL AND PAGE: http://www.hotmail.com/secure/start?...3A%5E 4068%3B Server Error in '/' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly. Requested Url: /secure/start WHEN CLICKING ON "SEND A LINK" RESULTS IN THE FOLLOWING URL AND PAGE: http://www.hotmail.com/secure/start?...%3A%3A%5E94%3B Server Error in '/' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The resource cannot be found. "Send a Link" and "Send Page" not working
Ramesh
Thanks for the reply - where should this new address be inputted ? left off on the initial note was this attempted workaround: ________________________________________ The address bar shows this entry: Changing the above to the following line helps: To make this permanent, try these steps: Open Regedit and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Hotmail Create a new REG_SZ value named posturl Double-click posturl and set its value exactly as given below: http://hotmail.msn.com/secure/start The mailto: links should work fine now. ______________________________________ Tried this and got nowhere - tried reregistering w/ regsvr32 sendmail.dll So where should I alter the hotmail.com to hotmail.msn.com ? Was this an effect of new security settings in SP2 ? TIA Mike |

"Send a Link" and "Send Page" not working
Hi Msscomm,
You need to change the text in the address bar. BTW, this is not a SP2 issue, but a temporary problem with MSN/Hotmail pages. Have you tried creating the posturl REG_SZ value as said in my page? -- Ramesh, Microsoft MVP Windows XP Shell/User http://windowsxp.mvps.org "Msscomm" wrote in message ...
