Default Dell XPS 10 tablet comes with Windows RT

I wish to buy a Dell XPS tablet. Should I wait for Windows 8.1 or is RT not
affected by this update?
Thanks

Windows 8 RT is affected by the Win8.1 update. The 8.1 update for RT
will not be released until General Availability date, Oct. 18 and will
be deployed via the MSFT Store.

Thus one can purchase a Windows 8 RT device now and upgrade to 8.1 on or
after Oct 18 or wait until later when RT devices are available with 8.1
pre-installed.

Note: RT is based on the ARM processor. RT units are not capable of
installing desktop software. Software is pre-installed by the device
manufacturer, additional apps (not pre-installed) are available where
supported from the MSFT Store. Additionally, the OEM has the ability to
deploy apps (if they choose to do so) via the MSFT store.
- i.e. you can't buy/download 3rd party desktop software and install
it on an RT device.

Tablets based on the Intel chips (x86/x64) like the Windows Surface Pro
and Dell Latitude 10 (Intel Atom chip with 32 bit Windows) are capable
of installing desktop software.

Always wait. Sooner you buy it the sooner it becomes redundant.

But consider Nexus 10 2 that is about to release. It blows M$ out of
the water, has more apps, costs less, battery runs longer.... lets you
use the memory for you movies and pics and not the OS hogging it all.
And works well with other devices without the M$ idiocracies.

Socialist-statism corruption is a great idea so long as the credit is
good and other people pay for it. When the credit runs out and those
that pay for it leave, they can all share having nothing but
unemployment, debt and discontentment.
