My experience with win 8 to 8.1
My experience with win 8 to 8.1 I downloaded an iso image with for 32 bit and 64 bit windows 8.1 pro RTM. The installation key was provided with the bit torrents download. XHQ8N-C3MCJ-RQXB6-WCHYG-C9WKB I did 2 fresh installations. You require the keys to install but it does not activate windows. After the installation I changed the key from my win 8 installation and the activation was automatic. HS |

Homsapien (misspelled) honored us with his vague "experience":

The installation key was provided with the bit torrents download. *****-*****-*****-*****-***** So you're telling us about your experience with a leaked (pirated) copy gotten from a torrent along with announcing a pirated product key (which later you say doesn't work). This is NOT a pro-piracy, pro-warez, or pro-cracking newsgroup? Are we supposed to be impressed that you got Win 8.1 RTM before the normal GA release date of Oct 18 for end users or a day earlier on Oct 17 as an update from Microsoft's store for Win8 users? Yawn. Guess you'll still have to wait for those QFEs (Quick Fix Engineering) updates found after the RTM release to be included in the GA release. I did 2 fresh installations. So, your experience you're sharing here is that you botched the 1st one? You require the keys to install but it does not activate windows. So these keys (oddly now plural) pirated via a torrent do not activate Windows. Just what then is the value of those bogus product keys? After the installation I changed the key from my win 8 installation and the activation was automatic. Which installation? The first one? Or the second? If the keys didn't work to activate Windows 8.1 as you claimed then why did they work on a 3rd unmentioned try? That was the total of your "experience with win 8 to 8.1"? |

My experience with win 8 to 8.1
So you're telling us about your experience with a leaked (pirated) copy gotten from a torrent along with announcing a pirated product key (which later you say doesn't work). This is NOT a pro-piracy, pro-warez, or pro-cracking newsgroup? This is not a pirated copy. It is the RTM win 8.1 that people with technet account can download and install with the key that is provided by microsoft. A couple of them are posted on isohunt. http://isohunt.com/ It does NOT activate windows 8.1. The key only allows installation. I used my legitimate win 8.0 key to activate both installation. One of the installation is on Lenovo twist which I purchased from a retail store (Canada Computers) came with 64 bit win 8 and I wanted 32 bit for a specific reason. I found the Lenovo Key with Jelly bean and used the same key to activate the 32 bit installation. I have made Acronis true image copies of both my installation. I will be out of the country and away from my computer on October 18th. When I return from my holiday I may restore the Acronis images and then do the upgrade that Microsoft will offer on line. Are there self appointed policemen in this newsgroup? HS |

My experience with win 8 to 8.1
Yes, I know. Personally, I will probably wait until the 17th when
it's released through the "store". But, whenever Microsoft (or any other software developer) gives me a hard time about using my purchased copy, I don't hesitate to work around it. That's something I find very legitimate about the "bad guys". They can be very useful when combating annoying protection schemes. |
