New user doesn't work!
I created a new user via Control Panel. I cannot log in as that user and
she has no home directory. What now? |

If not then something has gone drastically amiss with the creation. Otherwise it might be repairable from Control Panel. Ed |

I created a new user via Control Panel. I cannot log in as that user and she has no home directory. +1 (to Wolf K's comment) The 'home directory' is created/finalized after the new users logs on to Windows. Remove the account: - Logon with the initial Windows 8 created admin account, remove the secondary recently created 'new user' account, agree to the prompt to remove it, once done shutdown/restart, logon with the same admin account and create a new user account as an admin account ensure you assign it a password (and remember the password) Logoff of the admin account, sign on with the new user account. - when you sign in with the new user account the balance of the account and folder structure will be created. Do not interrupt the process. If you wish to change the new user account from an admin to a standard account do so with the admin account that created the new user account. Note: There are two types of user accounts on Windows 8 Admin and Standard - upon first use of Win8 the first account created is an admin account. Win8 does this since only an admin account can create another account (admin or standard). While not necessary, it is best to use the first admin account to create all subsequent accounts. A user account has two options - Microsoft account or Local account A MSFT account is necessary to access the Windows 8 MSFT Store (and also to obtain the Win8.1 update later this month). - i.e. at least one account (preferably the initial Win8 created) on Win8 should be a MSFT account. ....w |

If I press the back arrow on the login page of the main user, I get a window with three accounts: main, new and guest. If not then something has gone drastically amiss with the creation. Otherwise it might be repairable from Control Panel. How? |

It sounds as if it wasn't. For one that does exist go to User Accounts, change user account. Ed |
