i have windows xp and i am not that good with computers
but i want to learn how to back up my dvds

You need third party software in order to accomplish this.

Default how to copy dvds

I would recommend SmartRipper or DVD Decrypter. Both can be found here
http://www.dvdrhelp.com/tools scroll down the list to find them. While
you're there, read some tutorials to learn how to do it.

www.doom9.net also has some very useful software and some great tutorials. I
frequent both sites.
