Yes but all it does is offer you a choice. It has nothing to do with
disabling IE.

I proved by
two links to Microsoft.com that you were all wrong and you still will
not believe it.
Who knows more about Windows all of you here or Microsoft? Why wont you
believe Microsoft?

The links that where posted (the ones I saw from your posts) looked so
weird probably nobody clicked on them. If you post links from Microsoft,I
would expect to see the word "Microsoft" to appear somewhere in the URL.

As for your problem, uninstall the third-party browser and try reinstalling
as administrator and use Custom install.

Those links were copied and pasted from those web pages. It's not my
fault if MS doesn't put Microsoft on every web page. If you don't
believe it go to Microsoft.com and do a search for disabling Internet
Explorer Windows 8.1. That's how I found those two pages. The first link
has links that take you to the second.

Same as disabling. Did you read it and click on the link that applied?
You can look for Uninstalling IE and it will lead you to the same web
page. You cannot uninstall IE.

I finally, since I couldn't get any decent help here, out of desperation,
finally reinstalled 8.1 the problem of IE not accepting that it is
default is still there. Check out a couple of Windows forums. Didn't get
any answers there either.

microsoft should be immediately before the .com, and it there are other
things ahead of it, the last "." should be immediately before microsoft.

So you should see http://microsft.com/stuff

or http://otherthings.microsft.com/stuff

In either case, https is possible as well.

If it's not like those, it's not a Microsoft site.

You got plenty of decent help here. It just wasn't what you wanted to
hear.

I went to microsoft.com did a search in MS's site. It came up with; How
to turn Internet Explorer off-Microsoft Windows Help
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/searc...ernet+explorer
That lead me to
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...t-Explorer-off

Which is the links that I posted earlier. This is a copy and paste from
post
apps and end users to directly invoke and launch Internet Explorer."
is quoted from here;
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...t-Explorer-off
And look here;
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...puter-defaults

So evidently Microsoft was in the link.
