xp restart problem -- no input signal error message
i keep getting a 'no signal input' error when i try to
restart windows xp for about 10 seconds and then the monitor goes black. it boots up fine and everything works fine but everytime i restart, i get this error and i have to either hit the reset button on the computer or hold the power button down till it shuts down. when i hit the restart button or hold down the power button - it restarts/starts fine. every now and then it will restart from the start-shutdown-restart but about 95% of the time i need to do one of the two scenarios mentioned above. i tried doing a system restore (but that only went back a week) and that didn't work --- the only change that i have done was installed one software program (search and destroy) but recovered the changes and uninstalled that program and it still won't restart. i would really like to fix this problem without having to reload windows xp, so any help would be appreciated. thanks. dan |

The "no signal input" message means that your video card has stopped generating any output. This is normal during the first second or two of a startup or restart but anything longer than that indicates some kind of a hardware problem. Check with the tech support staff at your computer's manufacturer or with the dealer you purchased it from. Good luck Ron Martell Duncan B.C.
