Temporary Internet Files, 2 Locations, Why
I found 2 locations for Temporary Internet Files:
my-profile: \Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files my-profile: \Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files Why 2 locations? When I use WinXP Disk Cleanup utility, only the \Temp\Temporary Internet Files folder is cleaned out. |

Search your registry for that path string. If you don't find it, it can be
deleted. -- Was this post helpful to you? Then click the "Yes" button, below. Voting helps others who use the web interface. Mark L. You may have moved the TIF folder. Check where the TIF is located and which
one is being used by using the Internet Options applet in the Control Panel. Internet Options Settings button ( under the Browsing History section in the General tab). Now you should see where the TIF is located. You can move the TIF folder back to \\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files" by using the Move button. Once this is accomplished then you can remove the "\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files" folder. -- William Crawford MS-MVP Windows Shell/User "Tecknomage" wrote in message ... Temporary Internet Files, 2 Locations, Why
Everyone, and I mean every reply so far, seem to misunderstand my question.
So one more time... WHY are there 2 locations (folders) for "Temporary Internet Files?" NOT how to delete/empty/clean-out. To state the question another way, what is the reason for 2 folders labeled "Temporary Internet Files?" "WTC" wrote: You may have moved the TIF folder. FWIW, *I* understand your question - I just don't know the answer. Here's a
funny thing - for ages I've wondered about this myself, and after reading your post I checked to see if my "extra" folder was in the same path as yours, and now I'm darned if I can find it! I've just got the one now. It never, ever populated, it just sat there, index.dat never increased in size, nothing. And now it's gone. One thought - have you ever installed a different browser? HTH Tony. As far as browsers, work & home are the same. But now that I've checked, at home I have only one location.... profile~~~\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files .... and no \Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files Humm. When I get to work I'm going to try deleting the folder under \temp. After checking Registry entries.
