Default Does Microsoft still do outlook express for windows 7.........?

Hello, I want to know if microsoft did put out an email program for
windows 7 64 bit? I tried outlook 2001, but found it bulky and a lot
of functions I'd never would use. I just want a simple Microsoft email
program like outlook express 6 TIA

Yes, Windows Live Mail. It's crap.

Thunderbird.

I respect that you have an opinion. Don't confuse that
respect with really giving a crap what it is.

You can try Windows Live Mail 2009. It can be adjusted pretty much the way
you like. I would stay away from 2011.
Thunderbird is okay if you like it.

No. The Microsoft replacement for OE is Windows Live Mail, and it
shouldn't be allowed to live. The closest approximation of OE 6 that I
have found is Thunderbird 2.

I already installed Windows Live Mail 2010. It seems more simple and
basic email program for a 64 bit plaform.

You using Forte Agent for the newsgroup - why not use it for e-mail too? It
works just fine. Then you won't inflict WLM on everyone else - please stick
to Agent for the newsgroups.

There's Windows Live Mail, but I hear that it's awful, and if you try
to use it in newsgroups you will get a lot of grief.

FWIW, when I got a 64-bit Windows 7 computer, I switched to
Thunderbird because Pegasus is not compatible (despite a statement on
the Web site).

Thunderbird isn't perfect, but what is? And it's a lot easier to use
than Pegasus.

I agree, I tried Windows Live Mail but for me it was horrible for
newsgroups. I switched to Thunderbird, took a little getting used to but
now I like it much better for newsgroups.

Opera is also an option, both for mail and news, thats what I use
In the news department it has a outstanding search function.
Before Unicode I always used Eudora.

Opera have an usb version so that no installation is needed:

Just unpack and run.

I only use plain text, but it would appear to be fairly versatile with HTML

Unicode is fine in v 6 as far as I know.

Why not just use Mozilla Thunderbird?

I tried Thunderbird & did not like it. I got used to WLM2009 (under XP), it
does what I want. I'm not so fond of some of the changes that came in with
WLM 2011.

Now I'm having fits over Win7, way more fits over things like "access
denied" all the time, than WLM (either version) ever gave me.

Yes, I agree entirely with the assessment of WLM, which I used for a
total of a week when I got Windows 7. I switched to Thunderbird for
email and news groups and currently am fairly satisfied.
