Default HP ColorPro Plotter 7440 -- Windows 2000 OR Windows XP DRIVER

Are there any drivers that can be obtained to enable us to run an
ancient HP COLORPRO PLOTTER 7440 on either a Windows 2000 or a Windows
XP machine?

Thanks!

The plotter as you know uses HPGL and not PCL as the language. If I recall
correctly there were some HP printers that also supported HPGL (don't hold
me to it). If you find a printer driver that supports HPGL then it might
work.

See: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=hpgl%2Bprinter

Way to go Cari!
And MS XP even supports Thinkjets (1984 vintage inkjet) and Paintjets (first
color inkjet printer).

And it is a MAJOR piece of crap, like all native MS
HPGL drivers have been since Windows 95.

Any line NOT perfectly vertical or horizontal is drawn
"stair-step" fashion - completely unacceptable.

Use WinLine. I haven't needed it in years, but it was
the only HPGL solution I found that would run under
NT 4.0 that actually USED the plotter functions
correctly.
