Default Data Rescue from HD

My desktop HD seems to have crashed. I cannot boot to it at all. My
laptop HD has started to make clunking noises, and it fails after
about 15-20 minutes. I've been able to get some data off the laptop
by copying it to a USB Flash drive before the hard drive starts
clunking.

I bought a new laptop.

Now I want to rescue the data on the desktop and the other laptop. Is
there a way I can use my new laptop to connect to the other machines
and read the data on their hard drives?

Thanks!

Awaiting your responses with baited breath, I remain, yours truly,

You would need to have the HD's on either a functioning PC or placed in an
external HD caddy
With your desktop, you could test the HD by visiting the HD manu web site
and downloading, creating their HD checking utility boot up floppy
If your data is valuable to you - probably not as you dont have backups- you
may have to resort to a data recover specialist which is expensive. If so
you should not attempt to use these HD's

My data is important to me. That's why I had one copy on the desktop
computer and another copy on the laptop. They served as a backup for
each other. With both of them on the blink, however, a problem has
arisen ...

So I can't use a usb cable or ethernet cable to connect the crashed
computer(s) to my new laptop and access their hard drives from my new
laptop?
