Chrome, Gmail mail page, strange background activity
I suppose most people don't use system sounds so they do not
hear programs opening and closing, but... Recently, there is a perpetual opening and closing of some process whenever I have the Gmail mail page open in Chrome. Repeats every one or two seconds. Only on the mail page. I can still be signed in to Google while using YouTube with no such annoyance, so long as the Gmail mail page is closed. It is probably some recent installation or configuration. Hopefully it is not permanent. I can imagine someday in Windows when background processes will continuously open and close with no user action. Not looking forward to that. |

Is the activity visible in Sysinternals Process Monitor ? I looked in Task Manager, sorted by CPU usage. Seems to pop up as another Chrome process. Difficult to see what's happening. I will keep that in mind. While doing another installation, maybe I can pick up when it started. The workaround is to keep the mail page closed. No big deal since my smartphone usually alerts for mail. Thanks. |

Did a reinstallation, still had opening and closing of some process
while in Gmail, every second or two. Fiddled with the setting for notification of unauthorized/suspicious sign-in to my Google account and the opening and closing process sounds appear to be gone. -- I wrote: I suppose most people don't use system sounds so they do not hear programs opening and closing, but...
