This FAQ describes new drivers.
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us...s-drivers.html

So the 24.x.x.xxx series are now 'legacy' versions which does not use
the new Windows driver model.

Noting that mine was version 24.20.100.6286 I went ahead and used the
Intel Download Centre. That first required installation of the latest
Intel® Driver and Support Assistant (IDSA). I then installed the driver
update - or that's what I thought - and got a successful conclusion
message. But after a reboot Device Manager still shows the same version:
24.20.100.6286

Have I misunderstood something?

I've just seen a post elsewhere that includes this: "The Intel download
warns that this latest driver uses a new Windows driver model and notes
that if you need to rollback (suspicious?) you need to uninstall the
driver via the Add / Remove Programs in Control Panel rather that using
the rollback in Device Manager which could cause big problems."

So I'm relieved that my 'update' doesn't appear to have been
implemented. But also somewhat confused and would appreciate advice from
others using the built-in Intel graphics please.

A few days ago I upgraded my intel HD 620 to the "DCH" style drivers
manually rather than use the IDSA tool, the version is 25.20.100.6444,
all went smoothly.

Andy,

No, 2.1.

I'll have another attempt at updating tomorrow, given your reassuring
earlier reply.
