Default Reinstall Workstation sevice

I had Norton Anti-Virus installed on my Computer running XP
Home edition. I noticed that the Workstation service
wouldnt start, I tried to start it manually but it gave me
Error 1075 "The dependency service does not exist or has
been marked for deletion". When I went to the Event Viewer,
I noticed that the Workstation service could not be started
because "The Workstation service depends on the following
nonexistent service: ccEvtMgr". ccEvtMgr is a Symantec
Startup utility. I have no Symantec products left on my PC.
How can I repair the Workstation service or re-install it??
Need it for the network I connect to.
Thanks
David

Go to this regkey

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\lanmanworkstation

I'm guessing there will be a DependOnService value with ccEvtMgr as data.

Back it up and delete it.

this is years and years later, but wow. what a great response. this is exactly the fix to a problem i experienced on my win7pro x64 machine. i uninstalled citrix xendesktop which is highly invasive and gets into EVERYTHING. when i removed it, it removed a service that it had associated with the workstation service. but this registry key still pointed to that old service, and obviously prevented workstation from starting.

winwinwinwinwinwin
