I liked my Windows 10 so much that I did another upgrade today.
Today is 8/20/2016. I upgraded a Windows 7 box to Windows 10 and
it activated. Yes it can still be done if you know how. Much better than Linux because the network printers work properly with Windows whereas they do not in many cases with Linux. The only way some printers will actually print with Linux is if they are plugged in USB. The scanning works over the network using Linux but the printers don't. Even upgrading HPLIP and deleting / adding the network printers doesn't work. The job just sites there "processing page 1." Doesn't work with CUPS either, same thing only USB. Works every time with Windows over the network. Apple can be kind of stupid about printers too. |

It is not unknown that Windows 10 is addictive and some idiots like you have lost intelligence pretty quickly. -- With over 350 million devices now running Windows 10, customer satisfaction is higher than any previous version of windows. |

Then you must be brain damaged because on one hand you are advising people to get HP 8610 (whatever this is) and on the other you can't find any software on your current win7 machine. Does this not indicate that you need serious help to resolve this - mental or otherwise?. -- With over 350 million devices now running Windows 10, customer satisfaction is higher than any previous version of windows. |

To be fair, Linux printed very well and supported my printer out of the box as long as it was connected directly. Over the network though, no configuration whatsoever allowed it to respond to a print command. The scanning works over the network using Linux but the printers don't. With a separate scanner (not part of the same unit as the printer), my scanner worked wonderfully inside of Linux whereas it needed some additional configuration for Windows. However, my scanner wouldn't work with Simple Scan or whatever the software bundled with Ubuntu was and I needed to use XSane or whatever it's called. -- Silver Slimer Linux is the technological equivalent of a Chrysler; it looks nice enough but catches fire once you use it. |
