Default Optimising size of a My Computer folder?

I reckon I spend a significant proportion of time dragging the corners
of XP folders to get them 'neat & tidy'. It's admittedly largely just
a habit, but if I'm going to be working with several folders in List
view for a while I do like to get them to the minimum area with no
scroll bars.

So if a folder opens like this

I fiddle around for a few seconds until it looks like this

or this

Does anyone know of a way to automate this please? A script, macro,
utility, whatever?
