Um, I nominated it exactly because I *don't* think I should be the

Please. Weak.

Explain. I call attention to a page that doesn't fit the criteria.

No. You were spiteful. There is nothing wrong with that wiki. It is
about a person who may or may not have some notoriety. You, I am glad to
say, are not the sole judge of who may or may not "fit" the criteria.

The fact is that this NG awakened you this innocuous enough Wiki and you
decided to flag it for deletion.

Consensus so far is to delete. And administrator will be making the
final decision in a few days. How am I the judge?

The instigator of a witch hunt where the catalyst was COLA.

Maybe you would like to nominate the Elvis Presley wiki too?

Why should I? There is no question of notability, since he lives up to
just about every criteria for both biographies and musicians, while much
less is required for inclusion. It's all detailed in
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:BIO and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:MUSIC (and if one is a nutter,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:LIVING). The Yttrx entry doesn't
satisfy a single criterion with a reliable source.

Or the Beatles?

Same thing. If you don't know what you're taking about, it's better to
keep quiet and be thought a fool than post such nonsense and remove all
doubt.

Its called extrapolation.

Or Joe Bloggs?

Don't really know who that is supposed to be, but I learned from the
Wikipedia article that it's apparently a typical generic placeholder
name. It seems to be in common usage in some parts of the world. The
article definitely has encyclopedic value and it's not really a
biography, so rather irrelevant to this conversation.

Where does your nosiness end?

Nosiness? You know, I don't particularly care who violated policy or
why, but I'll be damned if I'm just going to ignore it when my
attention

Aha! Now you get the point. And we see the truth behind your
actions. You are in charge.

is brought to it. If I notice a rarely visited page has been
vandalized, I'll also correct that. Is that also nosiness in your
opinion?

No. That is vandalism and should be corrected.

Look, of course I understand the point about criteria being met for
wikipedia. But at the end of the day they are fairly hazy - one mans
hero is unknown elsewhere. For all you know they have a statue of t-rex
in Hobbiton.

I think I am not a little dismayed at the fact that something from this
NG has bubbled over into wikipedia and such. Petty, bombastic and plain
overkill.

Welcome to the "Firendly Linux Community" .
Yea right!
They are only friendly if you agree with their philosophy 100 percent.
If not, they will turn on you like a rabid dog.

No wonder Linux is so unpopular.
People aren't stupid. When they ask for help and get told RTFM by some
arrogant Linux freak, they disappear and unless they have good reason
to learn Linux, they will ditch it in the dustbin

Linux users are amongst the most unfriendly, snobbish, stuck up group
of people I have ever encountered.
I think it stems from fear of losing their position as "know it alls"
because Linux is getting easier to use and their "secret knowledge" of
the command line is no longer needed.

Linux users = nasty losers.

Only in this group as a general rule. Sure there are some "I know I
know" types in the help forums who take a lot of delight in making
trivial things appear hard, but at least they are there to help. This
NG, however, is just full to the brim of nasty pieces of work who will
insult a nOOb at the first opportunity. I am almost convinced that Roy
Spamawitz is a fully paid up member of M$ since the spam he posts here
scares off new users nearly every time. Other less competent posters
like Peter Köhlmann (ask him about AA and screen shots) just hang around
to "wannabe" - he is in fact a Windows user, makes his money from
windows but often fantasises about having a real Linux distro installed
and actually working. A strange lot. You'll fit right in. Pick up your
popcorn and enjoy the fun. Willy Boaster & Chrisv should have you
plonked in about 8 seconds ..7..6.. etc etc.

Think Evangelist. Microsoft, Linux, OS2, Christian, Moslem it is all
the same.

Evangelists = the most unfriendly, snobbish, stuck up group of people I
have ever encountered.

Which group? This thread has only been crosspoasted to half a dozen
groups or so.
