Default System Restore Wiped Out

Hello
I had entries to my System Restore back to late August and up until yesterday.
When I logged on this morning, I had a problem with a program and went to
System Restore and ALL of the entries were completely gone.
Is there ANY way to recover from this, or are those restore points
completely gone into the Black Hole of cyberspace?
Also, I have noted on the Question/Answer page a selection of "Notify me of
replies". I have tried checking this option, but it never works.
Could anyone explain how it works and how to use it?

Hi Amber,

1) Once restore points are lost, they are not recoverable. Why they are gone
is another issue.

2) Stop using the web interface and use a newsreader. Here are instructions
for using Outlook Express:
