That's very generous of you, are you sure you want other people using
stuff which you do not approve.

It's similar for me. I've never actually used SR.
I do regular backup and keep disk images. If things
go south I can be back up with a fresh system
within an hour. No need to waste space on restore
images or hobble back to the last time it was
working OK. There's no guarantee that particular
restore point was so great.

But if people are not doing disk imaging and
redundant, frequent backups then I guess SR is
a good idea.

I have used it once or twice but find Macrium backups are a much better
solution.
Most everytime I have tried SR the thing wouldn't work or the restore
points were all missing due to an update or some such, Just not too
dependable.

Unless you're a guru on this stuff, only want to use your HD for
backup storage, want something intuitive and easy, want something
likely to already be part of the OS, want backup taking a very modest
amount of HD, and be very quick, THEN SR is probably for you. It's
probably not perfect, but has always worked a number of times for me.
Deleting old restore points and establishing a fresh point only takes
about a minute ( for me).

So then maybe..... Restore = Ag?
Or Restore = FeS2?

I'm getting beyond my area of expertise here, but
I was thinking of pyrite:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrite

Apparently there are 3 varieties of iron sulfide.
Who knew? But I think I get the prize for both
most glib and most obscure post of the month.

Obscure - well, the OP started it (-:. I got the reference, as did at
least one other.

Glib - maybe! (I don't think System Restore is gold, but I don't think
it's pyrites either.)

Good work.

I didn't know about pyrite and an apparent +6 cation.
