It seems to suggest that you have to log in with the original Administrator account, in other words the first account ever created on that installation. OK, I finally got the password for the original administrator account and was able to download. I also found out that the new accounts I made/created were still in standard, and not administrator! I had to edit their types. W8 sure changed on how to make accounts too. Now, I am currently SLOWLY downloading W8.1 up(grade/date) from MS App Store. Boo. It failed overnight. I saw it idling at a boot up(?) with diagnostic stuff. Usually this happens if the computer goes to sleep during the process or, even worse, hibernates. I get the impression this might have been the case. -- Silver Slimer GNU/Linux is communism |

Oh I don't know about that. I have three Alienware laptops (they call them desktop replacements) which I use for games. Each machine has two Nvidia video cards to keep up with the intense graphics. And I have seen games that are really advanced. I know next to nothing about modern game consoles, but the youtube videos and advertizements look like they are very good too. Btw, those Alienware machines I have are like portable toasters. They blow the hot air out the back and it feels like holding your hand in front of a hair drier. They have been known to melt the solder off of the video cards. LOL -- Bill Dell Latitute Slate Tablet 128GB SSD ('12 era) - Thunderbird v12 Intel Atom Z670 1.5GHz - 2GB RAM - Windows 7 Pro SP1 |

LOL I'm 34, turning 35 next month, and still play a lot of games but I'm getting to the age where the only titles with truly interest me are games like FIFA which don't push the envelope at all when it comes to graphics. I'll still buy an Alienware laptop IN CASE some great game comes out and I feel an absolute need to play it (which seems to happen way too often, especially with Steam's constant sales) but I expect I'll focus on FIFA the most... even though I'm not that good. -- Silver Slimer GNU/Linux is communism |

Thanks. That was confused me. I didn't know you had to set the
administrator type after making a new account. However, I don't even remember the option to set the account type during the new account creation. :/ As far as I know, the first account created is automatically an Administrator one and every one thereafter is automatically set to be a Normal User. Microsoft opted to make this simpler for people but worse for power users. Exactly for me as a power user. I can see why they did that in terms of security. OK, it makes sense now. Too bad, MS didn't do this earlier. -- Quote of the Week: "I got an ant farm; them fellas didn't grow sh*t." --Mitch Hedberg /\___/\ Ant(Dude) @ http://antfarm.home.dhs.org (Personal Web Site) / /\ /\ \ Ant's Quality Foraged Links: http://aqfl.net | |o o| | \ _ / Please nuke ANT if replying by e-mail. Here is what I saw: Language selection (picked English) screen. Choose an option: "Trouble (Refresh or reset your PC, or use advanced tools)" or "Turn off your PC". I stopped here to see what you guys will say. I did not boot back to desktop. I prefer a physical keyboard as well but I have to admit that the word suggestions which appear over certain letters of the on-screen keyboard on the Blackberry Z10 I own make typing absolute heaven.
