If I was to buy A new Computer off one of the big
retailers ie.Currys-Comets would I be entitled to have the
actual CD of the working system with it wether it be xp or
any other version of Windows.

Ask the vendor.

Vic

You'd have to check with the retailer concerned. Whether or not they
include the full retail CD rather than an OEM version is entirely up to them
and whoever they buy the systems from... and, when you buy a system from
them, you're only entitled to what you pay for.

Hope that helps
Pete

Both Curry's and Comet sell Fujitsu-Siemens, HP and Dell. I'm not sure about
F-S, but HP doesn't supply anything with its systems (I should know I'm
using one right now and the Windows installation files are on a 4GB hidden
partition - this is very bad practice, for obvious reasons). Dell supplies
BIOS-locked media - this means, should anything happen to the motherboard,
then you're up the creek without the proverbial.

Personally, I prefer to build my own systems, then I know exactly what's in
them and I know I've got a full installation disc.

Whatever the media, it will still be OEM and subject to the usual OEM
licensing restrictions (non-transferable, all assistance - technical and
otherwise - provided by vendor).
