The better mouse trap sometimes ensnares he who sets the trap. And
sometimes the old trap works better.

We had years to beat Win 7 into submission and reliable usage. Now I'm
facing the same with Win 10. But! I actually like doing this. It's
part of my computer hobby.

No, I don't work anymore so I can afford some "issues" with upgrades.
Although, I do rely on my systems to manage my finances etc. so any real
dysfunction is not appreciated. Still, W10? A couple of tweaks and it
looks just like Win7. I suspect that under the hood they've made
improvements. Just can't see them or document them.

So, frankly, for me, it's a non-event.

I've turned off every W8/W10 "improvement" and my PCs are running just
like W7.

And I don't own a single Windows device other than my PCs so I don't
give a rat's ass about cross-device issues/comparability/etc.

If you bothered to read the article you would realize that its just as
appropriate for Windows 10.

The way Windows 10 is infecting/affecting Windows 7 and 8, it's not a bad idea to post it here IMHO.

For what reasonable purpose? It's a Windows 10 newsgroup. Nobody who has
a legitimate reason to lurk or post here needs to know what's going on with
the Win7/8/8.1 whiners or the WinXP homesteaders. Because it's a Windows
10 newsgroup... for people with Windows 10... d'uh! Everybody who don't
have Windows 10 and posts whiny drivel in here about daze-gone-bye must be
stupid or retarded. (SEAL)

IMO, Windows 10 is an awesome operating system and it surprises me that
_anyone_ had any kind of dislike for it.

You go boil you head Bucky. I've had to discard two perfectly good
scanners in going from win98 to winxp then to windows 7. I did not
upgrade, I never do, just purchased new machines.
You might argue that this was a vendor problem, they just couldn't be
bothered to update their drivers, but that doesn't help me much. Of
course, that vendor is off my list (Visioneer).
There is no good reason why software should cease working due to later
processors. The other day I booted an old DOS floppy on my 64 bit dual
processor machine.
I now mainly use Linux, not sure if similar problems exist on this
platform but so far so good and at least I have choices.

Web based forums are like subscribing to 10 different newspapers
and having to visit 10 different news stands to pickup each one.
Email list-server groups and USENET are like having all of those
newspapers delivered to your door every morning.

Oh I don't mind it at all. I have 2 copies of it running, one in VM and one a win7 upgrade. Works great for me.
Haven't seen any of the issues people are complaining about. I'm just echoing the complaint that people have with the
"upgrade to win 10" icon and things on that line.

I've turned off most if not all the telemetry I can find and don't need. Which is probably 100%. :-)

For god's sake, don't give away the tricks!!! Let idiots remain as
stupid as Stan Brown and that Canadian "Small Boys" Abuser.

There is nothing wrong with Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. If
people think that it is bad or that it is siphoning off their privacy
then they should stop using it and find something else. There is no
point in crying on public newsgroup like this one where only the trolls
and octogenarians who have given up on life are present to listen to
their cries. Microsoft staff are never here and unlikely to read any of
the crap here.
