Default Interesting option in Start is Back Menu for windows 8.1

I say 8.1 only cause that's what I have and how I'm using it.
If you don't know this add-on is $2.99 US. (no I don't work for the
company).

I just noticed that the windows key toggles from desktop to metro menu
(the little tile list of all your apps + the desktop apps, not the
larger icon start menu). And all while keeping the taskbar on the
screen.

I find this really interesting that I can be using modern apps and any
desktop programs pinned to taskbar are also in easy reach. And it lets
you turn off individual windows 8 hot corners.

I haven't used classic start menu or stardocks start8 so I have no basis
of comparison. I only mention this since there seems to be some
interest from some about a win8 menu.

My Windows key brings up the Start menu when in Desktop (Win8.1 +
StartIsBack latest). But then, that's the way I have it configured. To get
to the Start Screen, I have to press WinKey+CTRL, but when I do, the taskbar
isn't there. Maybe there's another setting I haven't played with yet :-)

Oh, I know where they all are :-) I just haven't played with all of them
since I have it set up the way I like it right now. Maybe on another day,
I'll decide to mess with all the settings. I do wish it had "Backup
Settings" button.

I bought and stayed with StartIsBack shortly after I bought the $15 version
of Win8, and have used it ever since (although that really wasn't THAT long
ago- just seems like it). I like Classic Shell, but not for Win8; I still
use it on my Win7 machine, but more for its Explorer settings than for the
Start Menu. And since StartIsBack pricing covers two PCs, I can use it on my
desktop one if I ever decide to update it.

Hey, really, it supports 2 pc's. Great. My wife, less computer
literate than I, has 8, and I would love to get us semi-configured the
same so when she asks "how...." I can reference it on my pc.

Thanks I'll look into it.

Sorry, it looks like they changed their schemes:

When I bought mine, it was $3.99 for 2 PCs. That was the only option they
had at the time, other than a business option, the cost I don't recall.

Now that I see that page, you're right. I bought the $2.99 so it's
only one pc. Odd though, the FAQ's state:

What is activation and why is it needed?
Activation is a process of validating your license online. It ties your
computer to your license via online service. It is required in order to
make sure license use is not abused. One license key allows you to
activate a limited number of computers.

"allows you to activate a limited number of computers". I think
I'll give it a try anyway. What's the down side. I bought this and
Stardock's Start8 menu so I still have 2 valid licenses for the 2 pc's I
own if it fails to work.

Toodles!
