Adding hard drive?
I need to get some advice here--my pc is getting low on space on the c disc, and I was wondering can I add memory with an external drive added, or am I going in the wrong direction here. I really don't want to foul up, and if this is the thing to do or not. I have seen them in the stores, but I am not sure if this is the thing to do or not.

An external hard drive can be considered as an option to obtaining more HD space. But there could be other factors involved that might point to getting a larger, internal hard drive instead. Some critical questions include: Type of user (expert, power, etc.), type of utilization (text vs. graphical content), potential file sizes, etc. Maybe a little bit more information will be helpful. |

How big is the hard drive in your PC at the moment and what operating system are you running? John. |

Do you envisage more and more space being used on your computer If you don't think you will be moving large amounts of data around you are probably better off either adding another internal drive of swapping the existing one for a larger drive. |

Adding hard drive?
Why do you feel you are getting low on disk space?

I am usiing emachines 3200 with 160gb and 512mb. I do a lot of picture and music with videos and I have 38% space on my c drive. It is windows xp and I have to say since I have never had another pc, and I love this one. I have gotten familiar with it and find it suits my needs. All my programs work well, and I have from time to time gotten advice from this site, and I really am glad you don't mind dummying things down for me. I anticipate using it for the same types of things as I mentioned for as long as I can, some of the programs I like are nero and corel paint shop pro , and I have a lot of music that I use as well. I did not know when I bought it, that I would ever use all this space, so you can see where I'm going here. Thanks. -- ebray |

I would suggest that you leave the drive you have in your machine alone and just buy an external USB hard drive to use for storage. John. |
