W10 and Seagate Backup Plus Portable drive

I've read some posts of users who upgraded from W7 to W10, and have
issues with this drive.

Seagate says the Backup Plus Family is supported in W10. No mention
made if the users with problems upgraded to Dashboard software 4.2 or
higher, and made any changes.

Has anyone had issues with this drive and Windows 10? ATM, I don't have
a USB 3.0 cable to test on my ancient W10 system.

My Seagate drive is several years old, and when Windows 10 installed the
back up program no longer worked. I tried to get one that ran on Windows
10, but was unsuccessful.

I ended up running Windows 10 File history. I have been using it since
Windows 10 came out and am quite happy with it.

Note that 16% are 1 or 2 star reviews out of 5 stars. Seagate, and
most of the other USB drives, seem pretty hit and miss quality and
reliability. My guess is that the drive is the problem.

Sorry for the confusion.

I am using the Windows 10 File History as my backup program. I am using
the Seagate drive as the back up drive. As I said the Seagate backup
program would not run on Windows 10. (Old drive, at that time when I
contacted Seagate they said: "I am sorry.")

File History is the name of the Windows 10 Backup program. (Settings;
Update & Security; Backup.) You can back up disks or folders. The
backed up files are maintained in the same file sturcture as on the
original disk. Where there are changes in a file, the early versions
are maintained with a date code apended to the original file name. You
can tell the program how to handle the previous versions of the backed
up files, ie, maintain indefinitely or place a time limit on them.

You can used the Restore mode of the program, or you can use File
Explorer and find the exact file and version you are looking for. All
functions of File Explore work on the the backup copies.


In case anyone questions my use of the old Seagate drive for backup. I
sync my two main computers, so the same data is on both computer drives.
I then use File History to back up the one computer to the external
Seagate drive. So I always have three copies of my files.

I am using the Windows 10 File History as my backup program. I am using
