Though It did not seam to have any problem's Realtek drivers keep coming, along with many others, the only way to be sure of getting the latest Win7 drivers is to use a Win7 compatible driver update manager. |

I have tried Realtek 2.37, worse then the MS drivers. I have just downloaded 2.38 and these too are worse than the MS jobs. Looks like a roll back to the originals. BTW, anyone know why it is so difficult to download drivers from Realtek? |

Scratchy sound
This is a general problem that has been around for years.
As long as i use the native Windows sounddrivers all is fine. The moment i use 3th-party drivers they sound "always" scratchy. This happend in Win95, Win98, WinXP and now in Win7 (can'ttell anything on WinME and Vista since i bypassed these but i assume they suffered from the same problem. Also, it doesn't matter if you use a Creative card (whatever type) or Realtek, the scratchy sound is always there if i used their own drivers. Therefore, i don't buy aditional soundcards anymore and don't use their drivers on build-in soundcards. The scratchy sound is always there. For Win7 i thought, let's see what it brings but this problem still has not been solved. Used the 2.39 Realtek's and still scratchy sound. Back to the Windows drivers and all sound is fine. If you are relying on monitor speakers, they are not noted for good frequency response, particularly at the lower frequencies, use a 2.1 system, with a decent woofer, and hear the difference. Use the remote to trim the balance until the sound is to your liking. A bit of extra bass usually fixes it. With a decent long-throw woofer you should be able to feel it moving air. |
