Default "Windows was not properly shut down"

I keep getting this in the Reliability Monitor, which reduces the
Reliability index. Doesn't matter how i shut down, using the Start menu
button, command line, or whatever. Seems to be random though as it doesn't
happen every time.

Is there a way to shut the computer down that guarantees not to get this
error? it shows in the Event Log as 'The last shutdown at time was
unexpected'

Windows does appear to shut down correctly and reboots every time but this
error is annoying me!

Try using the Taskbar Manager to ensure that all applications are closed
before shutting down Windows.............Dick M

Thanks for the advice. It does appear to work correctly if I shutdown using
the -f flag with shutdown.exe (to force apps to close), or use the -t flag
with a couple of seconds delay (which also implies the -f flag). So it
probably is a program not shutting down properly on occasion, as forcing
apps to close makes it work.

Might be worth trying
Just Google for enditall many results

EndItAll 2: A True Killer App - Downloads by PC Magazine
Quickly close unnecessary programs for clean installations.

With all software I use an install monitor that monitors
everything, and if wanted gives a printed list of changes.
Then if it doesn't do what it claims I can do a full uninstall.
