I want to Shut Down Messenger permanently
Greetings Charlie,
If you mean MSN Messenger or Windows Live Messenger, you can just uninstall it from Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel. If you mean Windows Messenger (which comes with Windows XP), you can remove it by clicking the Start again, then Run and copy/paste the following: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove Then click OK. Messenger will then be uninstalled. Hi,
Which indicates to me that you're probably using MSN Explorer. Unfortunately Messenger is a key part of MSN Explorer and cannot run without it. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger/MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com All posts unless otherwise specified are (c) 2007 Jonathan Kay.
