Default MS spying "helps" botnet takedown, wants "more"

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/01...s_kill_switch/

"Last December, Microsoft intercepted traffic on users’ PCs and helped
break up a botnet. And nobody complained. So the company very
tentatively asked at a session on ethics and policy in Brussels this
week whether it should do more."

I call that a POWER PLAY

“We detect when your PC is infected and 'phones home' as much as four
times an hour. We then redirect that back to our sink hole and identify
that with our national computers, and work to get those machines cleaned
up,”

justifying the built-in SPYWARE in Windows 10, I see (and some of those
new KBs for windows 7, "metrics" they call it)

"But he hinted it could do more"

I'm surprised he didn't say "FOR THE CHILDREN".

but THEN, they fall back on privacy. yeah, a company that SPIES ON US
is concerned about privacy. Riiiight. Am I on Candid Camera?

"There should not be backdoors, because you don’t know who else can use it"

absolutely TRUE! [unless, you're MICROSOFT, and YOU want to use it]

"We’re open to other solutions, but encryption is extraordinary
important to protecting the privacy of governments, the privacy of
individuals and the privacy of enterprises, and we all want to
communicate securely."

Including ALL OF THAT DATA you collect on "How we use our computers" and
SEND IT TO "the STORE" so you can TARGET US WITH ADS according to the
EULA for the Microsoft Logon. Yep, you DO that, don't you Microsoft?

(so you want it ENCRYPTED to avoid us computer end-users SNIFFING IT to
see what's there and PROVE what you're UP TO)

It also plays well to try and appease the angering masses, saying things
like this.

'Cautious Optimism' is probably the best plan, but watch the fox, as it
wants VERY much to guard the henhouse!
