Default OT - Should I upgrade to Macrium Reflect V6?

OK, it's OT, but Windows Backup sucks and Macrium Reflect is a great
companion for Windows 10.

I've just received this email (see below) from Paramount Software about
Macrium Reflect 5 end of support.

I own a paid V5 Standard Household 4 Pack license and according to the
offer I'd get a 40% upgrade discount on V6 Home Edition 4 Pack.
Even so, the upgrade would cost me €76. Currently I use it on 2 PCs
only, not 4, but the regular price for 1 PC license alone is €63. I also
happen to use V5 free edition on some friends' PCs. All in all, I love
this piece of software

I must confess I am not "overwhelmed" by the new features in V6 (see
below), but I do like the fact that with the upgrade I'd get features
that in V5 were reserved to the Pro edition, like "restore to different
hardware".

According to the FAQs, V5 rescue media cannot restore V6 images, which
is an annoyance, but V6 *can* restore images from any version.

===
V5 Technical Support will end on
17th February 2016

We are currently offering an Upgrade Discount of 25% to 50% off
(depending on the edition of v5 owned).

The brand new v6 Home Edition has all the features of the v5
Professional edition plus lots of new features.

Rapid Delta Restore (RDR)
Cuts restore times by 90% or more.

Backup plan templates
Use pre-loaded templates or create a custom plan.

Incrementals forever
Continuously maintain a defined number of incremental backups and
consolidate older incrementals into a single synthetic delta.

Rapid Delta Clone (RDC)
Improving further on the cloning capabilities using technology based on
RDR to speed up disk cloning activities by 90% or more.

Don't know about ANY version, but v6 seems to restore v5 backups.
It's my experience that restore to different hardware is not supported
in the free version. Nor is incremental backup. But I don't need those
features badly enough to pay for the pro edition.

You can get restore to different hardware using sysprep.
It's a PITA, but it generally works for moving the OS from
one working system to another working system.
It doesn't help if you didn't sysprep BEFORE you made the
backup and your original system is dead.

How often do you restore?

Bottom line...are these benefits worth the cost to you.
For many, free version will be just fine.

I have had no problem using the free version 5 for restoring to
different hardware. But I do not have extensive experience doing so.

Too bad (apparently) they dropped the Linux boot disk support for the
restore CD.

Here's some documentation.

I guess that's not a problem as long as the PE rescue disk boots all right,

That last is a true statement. The free version does not include the
capability to restore to different hardware.

Likewise, the free trials also do not include that capability. It's almost
like they're pretty proud of that feature and don't want to give it away.

In V5, ReDeploy was available on Pro and Server Editions only.
In V6, ReDeploy is available on the (paid) Home Edition too.
It is still not available in the Free Edition though.

I just made a rescue USB with version 6. Just accepted all of the
defaults. Seems to work okay, but I would feel better if it were a
bare-bones Linux boot up that simply allowed restoring backups. At least
it's easy to make the USB recovery drive. And it's still free.
