Default Windows Movie Maker replacement?

Looking for a quick simple video editor similar to Windows Live Movie
Maker. Microsoft is not making it available anymore for download to
Windows 10 users. So looking for a replacement that is preferably free,
but if it needs to be paid for, I'd prefer something in the sub-$30 range.

I'd also be interested in such an application - although I'd be prepared
to pay more than $30 as long as it did EVERYTHING Movie Maker did - and
more. All suggestions welcome as it would save me spending hours
Googling.........

Pakistani court removes PM Nawaz Sharif from office in Panama Papers
case
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jul/28/pakistani-court-disqualifies-pm-nawaz-sharif-from-office

Now how you are going to resolve this is beyond us in the west because
Pakistan is the centre for terrorism and it has people like Sharif and
Yousuf Khan who are pirates and thieves. Remove one corrupt PM and
replace with another. This time his brother. That is how democracy
works in Pakistan. It is called "Pakistan Style Democracy"

Avidemux. Quick. Simple. Complex. whatever you might
want. And free. Has to be seen to be believed. I spent
an afternoon looking for something to convert a very
large video to a small version and turn it 90 degrees.
It took a long time and a lot of wasted testing before
I found Avidemux, which did it all in one operation. It
was like using a graphic editor. I just had to pick the
changes I wanted.

Try Adobe products. I am suggesting this because you are prepared to
buy a proper product. Use trial to start with and after 30 days, you
can buy the license.

http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere-elements.html

You can buy the product from Amazon who are generally cheaper than Adobe.

English en http://g.live.com/1rewlive5-all/en/wlsetup-all.exe

Of course, when you plug that into your browser, it wobbles
a bit before reporting that this cannot be found.

Firefox can't find the file at

http://wl.dlservice.microsoft.com/do...lsetup-all.exe

Then you plug that into archive.org.

I just picked one of the dates at random, that looked like
it might work, and got this. This will include more than WMM,
and you are supposed to install Photo Gallery at the same time
to keep it happy. This likely includes the other programs
from the suite. But I guess you'll figure this out.

Does it work in Win10 ?

Is it blackballed ?

Dunno.

Picking video editors is not easy, and isn't a
"shoot from the hip" exercise. Some look promising at
first, but all it takes is one poorly written operation
in them, to spoil it for you. Since you know what
the above one does and how it works, it's probably
better for you than testing a dozen "wanna-bies".

Your first bit of fun, will be seeing if that installer
will run or not.

I actually use an older version of this, that's been registered. I
don't remember off hand what I paid for it, but, for what I've used
it for, it's done a great job.

They also claim it's free for non commercial home use, but, this
wasn't an option when I downloaded the version I have and I haven't
tried this one. it's an option though if you wanna give it a spin.
It's a small download and like I said, the version I have (v2.41) has
been a very good little program for my needs. I've created videos
from snippits of others on the timeline, added tracks, some special
effects etc with ease. And that's even using a dinosaur of a computer
to do it. It's stable as all hell, atleast the one I'm using.

+1!
I have been using v4.14 for a long time now. If you say it's for
home/non-commercial use, it's free. Works well with Win10 Home or Pro, is
fairly intuitive, and does a lot of things :-)

As usual, as with a lot of freebies, watch what you're doing while
installing it.

I'll check into it, I tried it once before, it didn't seem all that
useful then, maybe I wasn't looking at it right?

You probably have more experience than I do. I haven't
done much with video. So you may need something
Avidemux doesn't have.

I don't remember what else I tried, though one of
them was a version of Movie Maker, which seemed to
have the functionality but I couldn't get it to work.

I never tried doing things like clipping out scenes.
My task: Take a video of blue-footed boobies from
an iPhone that was gigantic and sideways, shrink
it down to about 240px wide, crop it, and rotate it
right, making it small enough to send in an email.
Avidemux did all that very easily. I just had to specify
the operations and Avidemux did them all together.
But I never tried scene editing... working with the
audio.... the kind of things I guess you'd want to
do if you were working on a movie.
