Default 64-bit computer problems

Have AMD Athlon 64 processor using Win XP home.
Installed Win XP 64-bit edition. Computer crashed.
Called support. tried to recover disk using 7 recovery
discs from mcrosoft- didn't work gives- can't reccover
files (various ones depending on each retry) Have tried
over a dozen times.

Any suggestions?
