funny folder behavior

Hello
Having a problem with my winxp folders as I set all the
folders to details for their default action and then I
adjust a few differently such as the pictures folder to
view thumbnails and the control panel to view Icons. The
problem is that these folders go back after a couple of
days to the original default settings of details. They
also forget what size they were when they were last
closed and open up half size when they were closed as
full screen.
Any Ideas on how to solve this puzzle would be
appreciated.
