Default Finding Available Wireless Networks

This is a repeat post, but I have made some progress since my last posting.
I have a Dell Inspiron e1505 with Windows XP Home Ed. I recently did a total
refresh of the system in order to pass a completely refreshed machine on to
my daughter. I reloaded Windows using a CD that was version "SP 1a". I then
used a wired internet connection to upgrade to SP3, and download and install
all recommended drivers from Dell - matched specifically to my Service Tag
Number. Everything seems to work great except for the wireless card and/or
driver. I have followed several technotes from different forums but can't
seem to find the solution. Currently, my wifi light is on (toggles with F2
key as it should), and the wireless icon is the system tray, but with a red x
through it. Most of the liturature says the next step is to go to the
Control Panel -- Network Connect --Wireless Network Connection --
Properties -- Wireless Networks tab, the Click the box to the left of 'Use
Windows to configure may wireless network settings.' My problem is that I
don't have a Wireless Networks Tab in the Wireless Connection Properties box.
Any ideas what to do next, I have pretty much exhausted on-line liturature
and other forums.
