How do I delete and re-install Windows Live Mail
Windows Live Mail has had to be removed from my hard drive 3 times due to
problems such as: "Windows Live Mail could not be started. The application was unable to locate to open its message database xxxxxxxx" (0x00000000,.2) Programs and Features cannot remove it; so I was able to remove through the registry 1 time, another time I was able to get it started by doing a restore, and the last I had to re-format my hard. Two questions, 1) What could I be doing to cause this and 2) How can I remove the mail program and reinstall it, or correct it so it will run again. Thanks. |

Save the grief, take 30 minutes and try: http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/ |

Replace the existing message database file by renaming it with the .old extension. Restart Windows Live Mail. It will recreate a new message store and should solve the problem. File location is (C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail)...you will have to enable "show hidden files and folders" first under folder options or by accessing the feature through the search box (windows key). As to why it's happening, I would schedule a thorough disk check on next boot to check for any issues with the NTFS directory and file integrity. |
