Download both 32 bit and 64 bit RTM iso
I am using 64 bit win 10 (10166) at home. My home computing
is not "mission critical". It borders on a hobby. When RTM is available I would like to download both 64 bit and 32 bit iso's The 32 bit is to update 32 bit computers in my office. We have a couple dos programs for which we need 32 bit. Will I be able to download both 32 bit and 64 bit iso's at home on my 64 bit system? HS |

Will I be able to download both 32 bit and 64 bit iso's at home on my 64 bit system? HS So far, Microsoft has only stated that 'after upgrading' end-users will have media available to reinstall or clean install. That media would have to be the same bitness as the original installed and upgraded-to Win10 o/s. i.e. MSFT has not stated that end-user will be able to download an iso, create media USB/DVD to perform an in-place upgrade on an existing qualifying Win7SP1/8.1 device. Thus, unless or until MSFT formally states that an iso creatable USB/DVD media can be used to perform an inplace upgrade before upgrading the o/s...you may very well (unless you have an Enterprise or Software Assurance license providing different routes) be required if taking advantage of the 'free upgrade to Win10' to upgrade first via Windows Update. Will 32 or 64 bit media be available - if it follows the same route as 8.1 Media Creation Tool then yes the ability to obtain 32 or 64 bit is available....but until the above unknown is clarified that created media may only be useful after having already upgraded the o/s. - possibly only after upgrading since the Windows Update route is intended to footprint the device (hardware, hashcode, form factor, customer type or something otherwise unique) support for the life of that device thereby allowing that MSFT Store stored footprint and associated license to allow end-user created media to reinstall or clean install without the need of product key or activation. -- ...winston msft mvp windows experience |

Will I be able to download both 32 bit and 64 bit iso's at home on my 64 bit system? HS You can download both 32-bit and 64-bit ISOs of the trial versions. Also, when I bought that $9.95 download Microsoft upgrade special to Win 8, I was given one key and 2 links for both the 32-bit and 64-bit downloads. In addition, I paid the extra $4.95 for Microsoft to send me the installation disk. When I got that, it was a package containing both the 32-bit and the 64-bit DVD install discs. There was also an explanation of how the 32-bit software could be installed on a 64-bit system... but you couldn't use as much RAM... amongst other considerations... So, I would say that there shouldn't be any problem getting both ISOs - so long as [whoever] doesn't try to defeat the activation process by using the same key for different PCs. Builds are only available via Windows Update to an existing Win10 System. I had to sign in to my account. I just downloaded both the 32-bit and 64-bit iso files of Windows 10 Professional release candidate build 10240 to the hard drive of my old Windows XP Pro PC. Sitting right here on the desktop! Now I can burn the image files to DVD or whatever and continue to use the provided key for at least a year... (Of course I've been providing feedback on the previous release cnadidate builds.) YMMV |
