Windows xp search engine not working
Hi,
I have a windows xp professional version. For some reason the search engine is not working. I need to search for some file with some criteria. Is there any particular search engine file that I could replace from a different windows xp professional installation. Or any other ways to resolve the problem. I appreciate any help in advance. Thanks. When I run search the following error message is displayed: Unable to connect The web site is currently unavailable or the connection to the internet has been lost. Make sure you are connected to the Internet and try again. |

Windows xp search engine not working
Your post isn't clear. Search engine means online searching with "Search engines" like
Google, Yahoo etc.. Yet you also say that you're searching for a file, which would lead me to assume that you mean the Search for/Files or Folders on your system. If you mean that you're having this problem searching for files or folders on your system: Download and install Agent Ransack from: http://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/download.aspx It's a FREE file search utility that's faster, more user friendly, and less system intensive than the Windows XP Search/For Files or Folders. You can type in part of a file name, and click the Start Search button. You can also use other criteria for file searches like text in the body of the file, date. etc.. Once you use Agent Ransack, you won't want to use the Windows XP native Search again. If that's not what you mean, repost, and be more specific as to what you're trying to do, what steps you use, and what problem results, and when. -- T.C. Are you online when you try, Jack?
Search Assistant will try to connect to http://sa.windows.com This is done to check for updates to its features, tips, wording and etc. Not allowing access can cause its own set of problems, usually a "A file that is required........." error message.
