Default Fix for the "Stop Insider builds" message

Just updated to Build 10159, and now under Settings . . Update & Security .
.. Windows Update . . Advanced Options, the "Fix me" button now appears under
Get Insider Builds. Above the button is the line "Your Microsoft Account
requires attention to get insider build." When I click on the "Fix me"
button, a blue message box pops up that says:

"Stop Insider builds

We need to do a few things to stop receiving builds.
link How do I opt my device out of Insider builds?"

The link takes me to
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_repair/ending-flighting-on-a-pc/56a3dc6b-4b1e-4d8e-a8b3-6ebf717e69d9

I have not knowingly opted out, but since the system seems to think I did,
how do I get rid of this message and opt back in?

I see that a new Build has been released, but I would think that I won't be
seeing it if Microsoft thinks I'm opting out :-(
If I can get the ISO for it, maybe this build will fix the problem I'm
seeing (and from reading the link listed in this post, I'm not the only
one).

Hi Tom,

I am getting the same idiot message and I never opted in. I figured
they were trying to trick me to sign up for an account so they
could market me.

No, I don't think they're trying to "trick" you wink wink nudge nudge They
have all they need from each of us :-o

I downloaded the ISO and updated to build 10162 and thought that had fixed
it, but after the first reboot, the error was back :-( I posted this in the
Microsoft Answer forum, and the only replies I've gotten there are "me,
too." No fix yet.

I get that, but still have updated to 10159 and then 10162 using a
downloaded ISO. This appears to be the same thing Windows Update was
doing so it shouldn't be much slower. Also, you have the ISO so it's
easy if you need to reinstall.

I have never created a Microsoft account, and don't intend to.

Hi Mark,

From what I can tell, even those that sighed up for M$ accounts
are getting the pop up too.

I have not seen the popup. Does anyone have a picture ?

I just joined the Insider program. I had a Microsoft
Account, from a failed attempt to register a copy of
Visual Studio Express. The Microsoft server would
not acknowledge my attempts to register VS, and ignored
me. I had to use a "hack" to register the software
myself (someone figured out a reg key to use). That
Microsoft Account was then rather useless. So at least
I didn't have to apply for a Microsoft Account today.
I had one left over.

I had a dual boot Win10 setup, and bootstrapped myself
into the Insider program (using the first partition
of my dual boot Win10/Win10 setup). As near as I can tell.
I don't know what to look for, because now I don't see the
Insider Hub. But I also haven't seen any popup. I updated
from 10130 to 10162, using the downloadable ISO and
mounting it as a DVD drive.

One peculiar behavior during the installation, is
my Logitech Webcam software "woke up". Even though the
webcam was not connected, the first funny behavior is
the "registration page" popped up. I knew something
had just broken, but couldn't figure out what.

The installer was then doing updates before the actual
10162 install began. And it went on long enough, I dug out
a copy of Process Monitor, and looked for WriteFile commands.
And it appears the stupid software had gone looking for
a Logitech webcam update. And apparently some Logitech software
got installed, and it started looking for the webcam,
and the webcam was not connected (continuous stream of
error message ensues). By plugging in the webcam,
I was able to stop the loop, and the updates portion of
the install continued.

Before installing 10162, the 10130 OS helped itself
to an Adobe Flash update for Internet Explorer.
As if the new installation wasn't going to blow
that away! What a waste of time.

But the thing eventually finished, as these things do.

Just keep your ProcMon handy. A great tool when the
upgrade process runs off the rails and into the weeds.

I made two backups, so if I need to try the process
again, I can go back a couple steps.

I also used Disk Cleanup, and remove the carcass of 10130.
Didn't take too long. The C: drive is now quite a bit
bigger (maybe 8GB bigger). And I don't think there is
too much stuff left to clean out of it.

I clicked on the "Fix Me" button and got the blue pop-up box with the

exited "Settings" When I re-opened "Settings" and went back to where the

I did an Upgrade install with mine, running Setup.exe off the DVD image.
The previous build was 10130, and had a Microsoft Account (applied minutes
earlier). Mine had "You are ready to receive..." for a status when 10162
finished installation.
