Here's the screen with the "Fix me" button:

Isn't that what you get if you click on "Stop Insider Builds" NOT "Fix
Me"?

Nope. That's what you get if you click on "Fix me." It's been that way for
me for the last two builds. I was hoping this last build would fix it, but
no. . .

What do you get when you click "Stop Insider Builds"?

When I click "Fix Me" I get a popup of the same size with "Hey! Are you
an Insider?" in large print followed by "You need to connect a Microsoft
account to your device to get Insider builds.". There are 2 buttons
labeled "Sign in with a Microsoft account" and "cancel".

Perhaps the intention is to invent a kind of "activation"
scheme, where a user "proves" their Microsoft Account
details on each installation/repair attempt ? They want to
verify your email address still works, with the "code thing".

Well, for some unknown reason, the "Fix me" button is gone, replaced with
the line "You are all set to receive Insider builds." I have not bothered to
click on the "Stop Insider builds" button; let sleeping dogs lie and all
that good stuff :-)

I haven't installed any updates since I first got the "Fix me" button. Don't
know why it fixed itself, it just di.

But this speaks volumes about how "reliable" an OS it is.

If the behavior of the OS is not reproducible from day
to day, if the "earth moves under your feet", how
will you make any progress ? Say, for example, you're
the IT guy, and the problem fixes itself while
you're applying triage. I would expect you to be
pretty angry. Part of problem fixing, is learning
from the experience, and just having the sand shifting
under your feet all the time, is going to teach you
nothing about fixing problems faster.

One of the reasons the Win10 test volume is not
powered up right now, is waiting for stuff like
this to stop :-)

OK, fired it up again, it checked for Windows Update
all by itself (could see Trusted Installer in Task
Manager), and it reports no updates have been
installed. And my flapper isn't flapping. So has
mine always been working, or did it flap twice
and fix itself ?

Windows 10 is a lot like my aquarium back home.
Where you could look at the fish inside the
tank. Pretty boring. But occasionally, the
goldfish would leap out of the thing, and onto
the bedroom floor.

You won't as much working on that new computer,
as "watching it in wonderment". Now that
Windows 10 will be receiving a copy of Minecraft,
will the computer play all by itself for amusement ?
Will Minecraft be one of the "maintenance tasks" ?

Oh - I see the NIC LED is at it again...
Time to go over and figure out what it's
chewing on this time. I think I'd rather
be running a BitCoin mining rig instead.
