Build 10162

I downloaded the iso and did a clean installation

I do not want any more changes until RTM

It is perfect for me for my desktop.

I had bad display luck with 10158/9
restored 10130.
Downloaded the 10162-64bit dvd.
Tried to execute from within 10130 as an update.
That wouldn't go.
Rebooted the DVD.
About 20 seconds into the install, it claims that
it can't find a media driver that it needs.
No disclosure of WHICH driver it needs.
Only option is to abort.

Went the update route from 10130 to 10162.
Updates installed and everything seems ok.
Rebooted.
Back to the same graphics problem since 10158.
Black screen with cursor.
Moving the cursor causes it to change as it passes
the edges of the windows. Just no window or content
visible.
Hit the power switch and the desktop flashes on screen
for an instant before it shuts down.

Something got broke after 10130.

The whole march toward RTM seems to be going downhill.

My own theory about why three updates came out in three
days, is someone at Microsoft realized there was a way
to get a "free" copy of Windows 10, outside their rule
set. And it sounds like plugging the Upgrade install
from 10130 to later OSes, serves that purpose (prevents
late Insider signup, from elevating a later install
to Insider-hood). It's possible 10158 wasn't going to
block that, and it took them a later release to plug the hole.

I suppose I should back up my 10130 (with the network cable
unplugged :-) ), and give the 10162 DVD a try here.

They could blacklist just about anything they wanted
at Microsoft, so as long as you're connecting a network
cable to the computer, they can do whatever they want
to your installation. It all depends on how important
it is, for them to show their hand.

When I downloaded 10162 I got the full speed I's supposed to get on this
internet connection (15Mbps, 1.875 MS/s).

I am doing the upgrade from the ISO right now.

I tried booting from the ISO to do the upgrade, but after
asking me for my key, it told me to reboot into regular
Son-of-Frankenstein and rerun from the DVD.

It "seems" to be going okay so far.

I like a good conspiracy theory as much as anybody.
But
I think this is a driver problem.
The system with the ATI GPU has the black screen issue.
I let the Nvidia display system update from 10158 to 10162.
Went without a hitch.

I've been researching how to get the ATI system to boot
in safe mode when you can't see the display. Maybe I
can fix it by reinstalling the ATI driver.
Or start over, download the whole damn thing again and try
the driver fix before i let it reboot.
