Default defragment

good morning i have windows xp and when i try to defragment my computer it
freezes up i have norton anti virus 2007 but i have the cd for norton 2005 if
i put that in would that allow me to defrag my computer please help if you
can thank you ray tauvette

Default defragment

Both the NAV 2007 and Disk Defragmentor could be configued to run when the
system is in an Idle state. This would cause them to freeze up your machine.

You can disable your AV program while you run Defragmentor so that the AV
doesn't start a Scan and that should keep these two programs from fighting
and freezing up your computer. Or you can configure one or the other or both
to start at different times during the day. Preferably when you wont be on
the machine.

Get the right CD and do a Repair Reinstall of Norton's.

Turn off the NOrton scheduled defrag; see if that helps.
