Directory rights in Windows XP
I have 30 new laptops on a wireless network, connected to
a Novell server. Some of the software I need to run on these laptops need to have special right for the directories they run from. All users login into the Windows XP workstation as the same user ID. I could make this user part of the administrator group with the same rights as administrator. I do not want this user to have the same rights as administrator. Is there a way to set user right for directories in Windows XP? |

Directory rights in Windows XP
Yes, in Windows Explorer, go to Tools, Folder Options, View and uncheck Use
Simple File Sharing. Then you'll see the usual Security tab when you look at a file's or folder's properties. -- Doug Knox, MS-MVP Windows XP/ Windows Smart Display Win 95/98/Me/XP Tweaks and Fixes http://www.dougknox.com -------------------------------- Associate Expert ExpertZone - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone -------------------------------- Please reply only to the newsgroup so all may benefit.
