Default huh... Google desktop?

Today I noticed an icon "Google desktop" in the system tray in the lower
right corner. What's this doing there? I haven't installed anything...

You probably installed a software package recently and GD was included as
an
option in the package. GD was discontinued in 2011, so the odds are you
installed an old software package.

Not that I know... I have been using Youtube to pair my TV to the notebook
though.

Google Desktop is only available if installed by the user or 3rd party
software which includes it as an supplemental program.

Backtracking should provide a clue if memory doesn't
