When I play a video in Youtube, it keeps repeating it over and over until I
drop dead.
Can't imagine who would want this.
Is there any setting in Youtube to disable this annoyance?

I was not able to find any kind of option in the YouTube UI to force
autolooping.

I did find this article from 2012, which has some interesting information.

http://www.techairlines.com/loop-youtube-videos/

I would restart my browser with all extensions disabled to see if that
changes
things for you. If so, re-enable your extensions one at a time to narrow
down
the culprit. I would also try it with a different browser on the same
machine
to make sure the problem is browser dependent.

Thanks. However, I don't want to loop anything, By default I want to play
anything just ONCE.

That has never happened to me on any of my machines or YouTube vids.
It is likely specific to your computer.
Start with the usual: check for viruses, malware, scan disk for
bad clusters, remove and re-install the flash for your particular
browser. Let us know how it went!

Assuming it was of no importance I forgot to mention that I'm using Youtube
with a "paired" flatscreen TV. I control the TV from my laptop using Google
Chrome browser where I have an icon in the lower right corder of the video
window. With the icon I can toggle between playing the video on the laptop
or on the flatscreen TV.

Really, is that what you took away from my post and the included article?

I will try again. If there is no setting in the Youtube UI to force the
autolooping you are experiencing, and, if you are not playing the video(s)
from
a link which includes the "loop=1" parameter in the URL, then something
associated with your browser or machine is modifying the video URL and
setting
the loop switch.

Trying a different browser and disabling your browser extensions are the
logical
first steps in diagnosing the issue you are having.

I play Youtube on a TV via Roku, no computer in between. Nothing ever loops
so I'd be checking Chrome.

There is an "Autoplay" setting. I find it's always on by default. I'm not
sure about looping, but it causes another video to start as soon as one
ends.. not sure how that works and perhaps under some circumstances it
simply plays the current one again.

The narrowing-down process is quicker (on average!) if you re-enable
half of them (then either enable half of those remaining or disable half
of those you enabled, and so on), rather than one at a time.

There's been some change recently: for me, the auto-load of another
video (actually loading of another YouTube page) has only started in the
last few days - maybe the last week or two as I don't use YouTube that
often. But certainly, it didn't use to do it: at the end of a video, it
used to just fill the playing area with a grid of links to other videos
(usually the top few of the ones on the right of the page).

How do you know it doesn't repeat after you drop dead!

Yes I had the same problem. After lots of Googling I found the answer
and it was very easy to do. On the right side of the youtube window
there are other videos to view. At the top there is a button to shut
off "Autoplay" .... they should have named it "AutoAnnoy"!!!

It repeats until I drop dead "at least". Anything after that is irrelevant.
I suppose thats the future. When I buy a car it'll start moving by its
self... until I press the brake. It will be called a "smart car"...
