I like my View of files to be a list with details. I cant seem to make my
computer stay with my selection. I can change the view to details and ask
the computer to do this for all files but sure enough in another moment it is
back to icons for file list viewing. I have read up on this and tried to set
it but it doesnt hold. Any ideas?

the feature would require a
modification to the registry

and some anti virus programs
prevent the registry from being
accessed.

If the settings won't hold, you could try a standalone file viewer, like
FreeCommander. See its screenshots he

XP has limitations in this area and they can be adjusted. Do you have
lots of files and folders?

Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2):

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Read the top of Kelly's page for instructions on how to apply the
file.

You should back up your registry before making any changes for safety
with this popular free tool:

http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/

Or, you could download some third party application.
