Default Xp Pro SP2 Restore Installation

I'm running Xp Pro with SP2 and I've had problems with Outlook Express. I
couldn't find any way to reinstall them or do a "restoration" or "repair"
installation over the top of what was already installed.

I then tried to do an operating system "restoration" or "repair"
installation over the top of what was already installed and got the error
message that the operating system installed was newer than that on my cd and
so the installation could not occur.

How can I do a resoration install or repair the operating system in future?
I really do not want to have to do a total format and reinstal each time.

Can I create an updated XP Pro CD with the updates that will be recognised
by the install program for future use?

Is there anyway to get XP Pro with SP2 to do a dignostic check of the files
to see if they are correct. Trying the System File Checker Tool ( Start,
Run, sfc /scannow) seemed to start working but then it seemed to stall.

Regards,
Brian

OK, I've read the slipstream process but it doesn't mention how to find out
what "updates" you should add in addition to SP2 and where to find them.
Also, my copy of XP Pro already contains SP1 (at leaste I've been told that
it does) and the slipstream articles all suggest the use of a "Gold" early
version of Xp without SP1. Also, I'd like to have updated drivers too if
that is possible.

Any suggestions or links to any sites of help?
